  • ISO controls the camera sensor’s sensitivity to light. Higher ISO brightens the image but can add noise.

  • Shutter speed controls how long the camera’s sensor is exposed to light. Faster speeds freeze motion; slower speeds create motion blur.

  • Aperture is the size of the lens opening. A wider aperture (smaller f-number) allows more light and creates a shallow depth of field; a smaller aperture (larger f-number) lets less light and increases depth of field.

The rule of thirds is a composition guideline where the frame is divided into 9 equal sections (3x3 grid). Placing the subject along the lines or intersections makes the shot more balanced and visually appealing.

  • Cut: An instant switch from one clip to another.

  • Dissolve: One clip gradually blends into another, showing a smooth transition.

  • Fade: A clip gradually appears from or disappears to black (or another color).

  • White balance ensures that colors in your images or videos appear natural. Different light sources (sunlight, bulbs, fluorescent) have different color temperatures. Adjusting white balance removes unwanted color casts.

    • Linear editing: Editing clips in a fixed, sequential order (common in old tape editing). Changes are harder to make.

    • Non-linear editing (NLE): Editing digitally on software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut, allowing you to move, cut, and adjust clips freely without affecting the original files.
